We are currently searching for a Retail Operations Manager to join the team.
A rare opportunity has come up to join the team as our Retail Operations Manager. This is ideal if you have significant retail management experience and are keen to move to a head office role, or if you're an established retail operations coordinator or manager looking for your next step. As our Retail Operations Manager, you will work with our Head of Retail in the daily management of our global stores, providing a central point of contact for stores and a consistently high level of service. Partnering with Store Managers, head office functions and external suppliers, you'll take an active role in reviewing, analysing and improving operational aspects of the business, training the team and leading operational projects within Retail.
We are looking for someone who will be responsible for:
- Managing store compliance with all store manuals, policies and procedures, ensuring store teams adhere to operating procedures through ongoing audits
- Overseeing and escalating any issues with store infrastructure
- Maintaining adequate levels of store consumables, including forecasting so that supply meets demand at all times
- Managing uniform ordering and distribution
- Assisting with training and development of store teams, demonstrating inspirational leadership
- Maintaining accurate completion and sign off of all staff records
- Attending internal and external meetings in the absence of the Head of Retail
- Attending weekly trade meetings
- Being continually aware of all company communications and passing on relevant information to team members
- Supporting store managers with store cover needs in the absence of the Head of Retail, including occasionally supporting in stores when needed
- Ensuring all store related People and payroll tasks are managed effectively in line with policies, in conjunction with the People team
- Promoting customer care within the retail business, investigating complaints or issues of poor customer care
- Organising and managing sample sales
- Partnering with the Head of Retail to develop and maintain tracking tools to manage budgets including future works
- Managing maintenance of store furniture, fixtures and fittings
- Project managing, in conjunction with Head of VM, the role out of all new stores and store refurbishments
- Managing ongoing repairs and maintenance of stores globally
- Sourcing and managing maintenance suppliers and utilities contracts
- Reviewing and reporting on store operating costs vs budget
- Yearly reviews of suppliers to ensure cost efficiencies and performance vs expectations
- Attending site meetings to manage and facilitate planning for all retail store requirements, FOH, BOH, office and staff facilities
- Successfully and efficiently managing the roll out and implementation of all group and locally defined projects, including managing effective communication, to deadline and budget, reviewing post roll out and measuring success
- Managing the implementation of new in store systems, including creating SOPs e.g. POS and reporting processes
- Managing retail Health and Safety including risk assessments across new and existing stores, together with the Head of Retail and People team, to ensure Belstaff complies with local legislation, and according to internal expectations
- Coordinating external H&S audits with Store Managers, reviewing reports with Head of Retail, highlighting and actioning any required improvements
- Conducting H&S training to ensuring all team members are aware of and following all company rules and HSE legislation
- Regularly auditing retail stores to ensure H&S documentation is up to date
- Owning Company, Store Security, cash handling and key holding procedures and ensuring they are always adhered to throughout store
- Setting the standard for storing stock back of house
- Ensuring Store Managers are trained on how to use tagging and other security systems in store, that they have what they need to keep stock protected and follow the correct procedures to report any theft
- Monitoring and ensuring stores manage stock transfers correctly and in a timely manner
- Scheduling and organising physical stock takes followed by analysis of results in coordination with Stock Controller and Head of Retail
- Liaising with Store Managers to achieve KPIs and maintain stock integrity
- Managing operational compliance of handling inventory and cash including measuring success through efficiency and loss prevention metrics
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant industry experience in Store Management or Retail Operations
- Proven ability to build, improve and embed robust processes that contribute towards successful achievement of company targets and SOPs
- Experience in project and contract management
- The ability to manage budgets and keep external partners on track to deliver best service and value for cost
- Confidence in managing contract evaluations and negotiations
- Confidence using the Microsoft 365 suite of programmes including Excel and the ability to navigate business systems and processes
- Experience of influencing multiple stakeholders and departments
- Ideally experience of managing a junior team member
